The Life Skills Experience is offered during spring and summer months (May-September)

Target is our introductory golf level for our youngest golfers. The Target Level is not technically a part of the Life Skills Experience, however it does encompass The First Tee Nine Core Values and Healthy Habits into each lesson. At this level it is important for participants to, above all else, enjoy the game and interact with other youngsters in a healthy, safe environment all while building up mobility skills and learning the game of golf.

PLAYer is the introductory level of The First Tee Life Skills Experience for children ages 7-17 years old. All participants (regardless of age or previous ability) will enter The First Tee Golf and Life Skills Experience at the PLAYer level. PLAYer teaches participants how to play the game of golf with special emphasis on learning golf, The First Tee Code of Conduct, and The First Tee Nine Core Values™. These interpersonal and self-management skills will help participants develop much more than their golf game.

The Par Level builds on the PLAYer level by introducing participants to life skills that will help them both on and off the golf course. The main focus of the Par level is to assist participants in acquiring several self-management techniques and interpersonal skills that will help them in managing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to perform at their best both on and off the golf course.

Of all of the life skills addressed in The First Tee Life Skills Experience, goal-setting is one of the most important. The Birdie level affords participants the opportunity to learn how to set and pursue their own goals. This will provide participants with a greater sense of purpose, direction, and motivation in their lives.

The Eagle Level is designed for participants who have demonstrated a commitment to both the game of golf and to attaining the associated set of Golf and Life Skills. An Eagle Level participant will learn about wellness, diversity, building go-to teams, and conflict management.

Beginning at the PLAYer level, participants advance through the different life skill levels through a series of certification tests. During each session of classes, students will periodically participate in certification tests. Once the student has passed all of the certifications and has demonstrated an ability to use the life skills on and off the golf course, they will be eligible to progress to the next level.

The First Tee program is designed for students to move at their own pace. We understand that each child comes to the program at different ages with varying levels of previous golf exposure. Because The First Tee Life Skills Curriculum is a cumulative program, we want to be sure that each child takes the time they need, not only to develop their golf skills, but also gain a better understanding of the self-management, goal setting, conflict resolution, and leadership skills the program presents.
